Soft Closure Announcement

Hello TFSD #411, Parent, Students, Patrons, and Staff:

This afternoon, the Idaho State Board of Education voted to the extend soft closure of Idaho schools through the rest of the year with the caveat that a local board could decide to reopen if social distancing requirements are lifted and state-wide criteria are met (criterion will be developed over the coming week and any decision to reopen would be done in coordination with the local health department). This decision effectively extends the soft closure here in Twin Falls indefinitely. For now, I encourage all staff, students, and families to plan as if distance learning will continue for the remainder of the year. While reopening is possible, given that Twin Falls now has the 4th highest number of cases (Blaine, Ada, Canyon, and Twin Falls), it will likely be difficult for us to meet reopening criteria. We understand that this decision has implications that will affect all members of our community. We will continue to communicate with you and address these challenges as decisions are made locally.

Sincerely,
Dr. Brady Dickinson
Superintendent of Schools
