Over the summer and into the fall, roofing and HVAC projects have been taking shape at many TFSD schools. These improvements are funded through the School Modernization Fund, which was appropriated by the Idaho Legislature in 2024. Thanks to this investment, TFSD can update and modernize our buildings so they can serve students well into the future. And yes, that means more comfortable classrooms with much-needed air conditioning.
Harrison and Morningside Elementary Schools saw the most significant transformations this summer. Phase one of these projects, which began in May 2025, included new roofing and the installation of AC units. Phase two will continue in the spring, focusing on interior work, and is scheduled to be completed during the 2026 summer break.
At Canyon Ridge High School, a new roof was installed over the 400 hallway. Perrine Elementary also received roof repairs, and teachers in the upstairs hallway, an area that has traditionally been a bit hot this time of year, were provided with window AC units to get them through one last year without a fully modernized HVAC system.
Right now, construction crews are busy at Lincoln Elementary, replacing and reinforcing the aging roof on the historic side of the building to support new AC units. This work will continue throughout the school year, with crews working late into the night during the winter months. Inside the building, small groups of classrooms will rotate through construction zones, allowing for the necessary updates with minimal disruption to learning. The project is on track to be completed ahead of the 2026 school year, ensuring students and staff can enjoy a safe and comfortable learning environment for years to come.
At Magic Valley High School, work is underway to install a new fence around the campus. Designed to be both functional and decorative, the fence will strengthen school security while also enhancing the look of the campus and creating a more cohesive and welcoming environment for students and staff.
These projects represent a historic investment in TFSD facilities, reflecting our community’s strong commitment to its public schools. By modernizing our buildings, we are not only preserving them for future generations but also ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn in a safe, comfortable, and world-class environment.
