he Twin Falls School District will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the new adaptive playground at Harrison Elementary School.
This nearly $500,000 project represents the power of community partnership, with generous support from numerous individuals, organizations, and businesses that came together to make the vision a reality. The new playground is designed to provide children of all abilities with greater access to play, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and connect through inclusive play experiences.
“This playground is more than just equipment—it’s a space where all children can feel welcome, included, and supported,” said Michelle Larson Harrison Elementary Principal. “We are so grateful to the many partners who made this possible for our students and families.”
The ribbon cutting is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend and join in the celebration.

What: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Harrison Elementary Adaptive Playground
When: Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 5:30 p.m.
Where: Harrison Elementary School
Why are adaptive playgrounds needed? Play is a critical part of childhood, and kids of all abilities deserve to have access to play spaces in our community. There are very few accessible, adaptive, and inclusive playgrounds that facilitate engagement for children of all abilities. This project would allow families from all over the Magic Valley to access a playground universally designed specifically to foster play for all children and caregivers regardless of their abilities.
Why Harrison Elementary School? In 2022 the TFSD in partnership with the PTO from Sawtooth Elementary School completed a needs assessment for adaptive playgrounds. Harrison was found to be one of two playgrounds that have the highest needs for this type of playground remodel. Harrison Elementary School houses two of the district’s elementary-level extended resource classrooms while also having a playground that has limited accessibility for students with varying abilities.
How can you help? Community members can make donations that will make adaptive playgrounds available to even more children in our community. To contribute to this project and others like it you can contact the Idaho Playground Project https://idahoplaygroundproject.org/
